Taal Volcano and travel
My wife has gone back to Philippines due to a family bereavement. She now needs to return to the UK and is booked to fly from Visayas to Manila (right over the Volcano), and onwards to UK via the Gulf this weekend.
It seems like a high probability that the Taal Volcano will fully explode by then. We are thinking that a better route would be to depart via Cebu, away from the plume. Is anyone knowledgeable on the potential impacts on Cebu vs Manila flight paths?

I would suggest flying out of Cebu may be the most prudent approach. We are in Tagaytay and it's pretty impressive (and scary ).

At the time of writing 6am ugh! Manila Airport is starting to operate as normal. Cathay Pacific has just flown over my residence en route to Hong Kong.
I have a friend who is due to arrive tomorrow and I have advised him to travel as planned.

A follow up to my previous posting. The track of prevailing winds for the next three weeks is to the Southwest which is taking any ash clouds away from Manila and the airport. Manila Airport is operating as usual and as bestvue has already stated flights are directed away from Taal .

Well that is nearly the full set. Direct hit by typhoon on Xmas day, couple of days later an earthquake that rattled the glasses and now a volcano. All we need now is a tsunami and we will have had the full set.
