Yesterday 224 new cases. Much lower testing at the start of Easter vacation at 10.6k.
Deaths 8
Active 22,150, down 1,049

Location detail:

NCR at 93. Actually at its highest percentage of all cases this week with 42.
Caloocan up to 16, Taguig also up..

CL at 31. The region showing a slight increase over the week.
4A at 30 yesterday. The region has decreased over the week.

Only 40 cases in the whole of Mindanao.

Case numbers in the 9 cities I track from 0 - 8.

WHO global report

The region had a two peak Delta wave for some reason. Delta deaths much higher than with Omicron. That wave also with two peaks. All countries now with falling cases.
But in E Asia Japan with a recent uptick after some weeks falling. Also suspicions that China is concealing some large outbreaks:

For more on the WHO report watch the latest Dr J video.

Weekly report later.

Looking in the US CDC web site for information below I also saw something from the about the J&J vaccine and serious large blood clot formation.
Strokes as a cause of death up a lot in 2021 here.

To try to give a comparison for the 2,138 deaths here from 144M doses

England & Wales only 24 deaths up to Feb 2022. UK doses about 140M then
US over 14k deaths, 565M doses. To April 2022

The British figure seems to be sure cases.
Reading between the lines the US one is very preliminary in terms of whether the death was the result of vaccination.

New cases yesterday 158. Mainly an Easter effect still but test numbers did rise up to 19.7k.
Deaths 6
Active 18,815, down 1,108

Location detail:

A lot of very small and even zero reports from locations. Bicol region zero last 3 days.

But the NCR had 69 cases, down slightly to 44% of all cases. All cities except Taguig down. It had 7 more at 10 cases.

Region 4A somewhat notable with 21 cases. Cavite up to 11.

Otherwise case numbers from the Visayas and Mindanao all low... except for the Davao region, which reported 14 cases, all from the city.

Default Re: NCR llockdown

A lower number of cases than one might expect as people return home after Easter trips. Testing was down on Monday's total significantly to 21.6k. But there is also the possibility the DOH have held back a good number of cases from announcement for some reason.

Cases: 134
Deaths 66
Active 16,771, down 1,092

Location detail:

The NCR with only 53 cases. But this was enough for it to have a 40% share of all cases yesterday.
Its six largest cities with 33 of those cases. Taguig zero.

Region CL was down to only 15, but 4A fell less far to 36. Cavite had 11 and Laguna 10 cases.
The total of these cases and the NCRs left only 30 cases for all the other regions.
MIMAROPA, EV, BARMM, Zamboanga Pen and SOCCSK all had zero reports.
All the other remaining regions with only 1-5 cases.

The 9 other cities I track with 0-3 cases only.

More cases announced yesterday...96 more to 230. A slight fall in testing to about 20k.
Deaths 62
Active 15,782, down 989

Location detail:

The NCR at 83 and 36% of all cases. Four of its biggest cities up, 1 down slightly and Taguig at zero for the second day running. Manila up to 19. A total of 54 cases between them.

Regions CL and 4A up to 23 and 47 cases.
Together with the NCR 153 or two thirds of all cases in these 3 regions combined.

Visayan case numbers very low at only 22 for all four regions.
Similarly MIndanao cases at a low total of 27.

Other city numbers between 0 and 5 cases.

Philippines Excess Deaths

On April 14 I posted excess death estimates from the PSA of 232,680 for the year 2021.
This already large number has been increased by the PSA in a recent update where data for November has been included, though still not completely for that month. Data for December is not included at all and some deaths will likely be added from earlier in the year in later updates.

The total now is up to 244,524. Not roughly equally distributed throughout the year. Many fewer up to the month of March.

A rise in testing of 1k and a few less cases at 210.
Deaths 61
Active 14,696, down 1,086

Location detail

The NCR at 73, so down a little in its national share to 35%. Its 6 largest cities with 56% of total cases.

Fewer cases in both the CL and 4A regions left the 3 top regions with 60% of national cases.

The 4 Visayan regions with only 32 cases.

Little of note also in the MIndanao reports. Maybe only the 18 from the Davao region, highest this week.

For the 9 other cities the range 0-8 cases.
Davao and GenSan with 8 cases.

The DOH seem to be nervous about these areas. Previously 14 was the number they mentioned. Now 13.

https://news.abs-cbn.com/video/news/...ion-activities

The only area of those listed that I track is Davao City and its DOH numbers recently do not seem concerning. Unless the DOH is sitting on a backlog of unannounced cases there?

E Samar is listed. Affected badly by Agaton and so reports have not been made recently. So a backlog likely there.
