I hear what you say but all I can say is that looking at how much peso she had left from the 6k I gave her, the sums look about right. She an x - ray or scan if that makes any difference,

However, I did find the visit interesting. The place here looked a bit of a dive and as I said earlier, could not provide what she wanted. This other place 2 hrs bus ride away was I think private. It was certainly up market and the thing that I found strange was that there was no people waiting to be treated. We walked in, and was seen straight away. Almost as if they were expecting us. They did say she needed to have two prosthetic teeth removed and replaced and that will be 15k please. She said she will find somewhere cheaper and found the local dentist here can do the job for about 1k. My cynical mind tells me the real reason why she chose the private dentist was because the bus ride home stopped by a house where she collected a class 1 replica of a Gucci bag, which was already bought and paid for. I could be wrong.

I now have two cashier receipts for the 30k college fees. However I have doubts about the authenticity. If I was in the uk I would have no reason to have doubts. Short of tying her to a wooden chair and using the good old German phrase of we have ways of making you talk, I probably will never know the truth behind this. However, she is aware of my suspicions and her cards are marked.

She has nearly spent the 6k I gave her on a birthday present, dentist and a family trip out yesterday.... all of which I went halves. She bought herself a few cheap dresses and jewellery and seems very happy again. I just wonder how she will manage the rest of the month out with next to nothing. If, a large wodge of peso turns up before she gets her allowance again, then I guess my fears will be confirmed about the college fees. We shall see.

Fingers crossed the receipts are genuine! All official receipts here have printed on them , usually very small print on the bottom, the following info as a minimum:

The printers name
The printers BIR accreditation number
how many books of receipts were printed
The BIR permit number to the college , in this case, for printing the receipts
Date issued and valid until date.

Theoretically this allows you to check with BIR that the receipts you have are genuine. However, this is the Philippines, so doubtless there are forged ones out there, but it may be a little extra leverage you can use if you still have suspicions.

Every receipt and sales invoice I have has this info on it. I have lots!

At least , as you say, she knows her cards are marked. One question tho'. Did you tell her what the allowance did NOT cover?

I went to check the receipts when I saw your post and they have gone missing. Now, it maybe that I have misfiled them which is unlikely but possible. But from memory, they did not contain the information you mention. I have other receipts from purchases and contain the information you state. They just looked like book receipts you can purchase. Certainly no official College heading, just two receipts saying for college fees 2015/2016.

She wants to open a bank account tomorrow. I will see how much she deposits. She has less than 1000k in her purse. She wanted the account because she does not live receiving money off me but prefers to draw from an ATM. We will see.

Said allowance was for her personal needs. And requests from her family if required.

Sounds like you still need to be on your guard Pete! Yes, if she deposits more than 1000 then you can rightly ask where the extra money has come from! Sounds suspicious that the college receipts don't have the legal info on. I've just asked one of our housemaids what they get when they pay her kids school fees - they get a receipt with name of school , name of child/children and with all the official details printed across the bottom.
My son's fiancee says when she paid her Uni fees, even if her dad paid by credit card, they got both the credit card receipt PLUS the handwritten official receipt from the Uni.
Hopefully, the more you check up on her, the quicker she'll realise she's not dealing with some lovesick Joe!

She deposited 500 php and is now very pleased with her new bank account and financial arrangements. Obviously will still be watching her.

No idea where those receipts went. Cannot see for what purpose they would be stolen. Normally when you pay at this college the receipt is on what I would call the students pass book which contains the history of payments. Just wonder when her mother asked for another receipt that they had nothing official to give her. Ok....grasping at straws!

A development. Her father has just announced that gf's sister requires a lap-top for her studies. As it so happens, I have one in for repair because it is too slow. I have said she can borrow that one once repairs are completed. Thinking now that lap-top may be deemed irrepairable or too costly to fix. I gave the lap-top initially to my gf for her to use. Maybe coming to the last page of this thread is an omen. We shall see.

The lap top was given to a friend of the family who has a shop specialising in lap top repairs. I was at the shop and gave it to him last Sunday explaining the problem. Gf got a message back this afternoon saying the lap-top has been repaired. I believe it to be foc. So......she can borrow my gf's lap top. We will see.... :-)

Having given away quite a few lap-tops ( about 10 very good ex works ones from UK ) over the years specifically for school/work, loaded with the usual programs and software. After the first couple I gave away I noticed school work was about 99.998% facebook, twitter, games etc. I then had a IT guru at home block facebook, twitter etc from the search engines as it was "For school only" use. I got about half back say that they did not work, could I fix them, they all worked except facebook etc. so they did not get them back

Maybe this should be a separate subject but talking to a friend's 16 year old daughter ( German/Filipino ) who is just going off to college to be a Mechanical Technician ( called Mechanical Engineer here ) she has not been taught anything about Trigonometry, Calculus or Algebra in maths class at school. I gave her my 1st engineering degree books that I still had from the UK just for reference, her teacher said that they would cover some of the subjects in the final year but most would only be covered if she went on to do a PhD in Engineering.

Not sure that she needed the lap top for Facebook etc. When I see her she is constantly on her I-phone to access FB so I see no need for a lap-top for this. My cynical mind was telling me that like the student fees, I should give the money to her for the lap-top to buy. That will not happen of course.

Up-date. Lap top collected by gf mother, repaired f.o.c. and returned to me. A lot quicker and I hope it is up for the job. She needs it for a thesis apparently and fb has had postings about the need for a lap-top at her college. Collecting this weekend I believe. Happy days! Love, peace and joy exists in the household.

..... sorry this is a throw away comment .... but I dont like watermelon and Im intending to retire with my darling next year in Bohol .... any tips on any other fruits that may have the desired affect :)
