I am not convinced that roundworm which must be fairly common in this poverty stricken country would account for convulsions and fever. Are you?

Actually, I had a case of ringworm as a kid. Thankfully, it was only on the top part of my hand and dealt with immediately. Got it from playing in the dirt when I was about 9 years old. And this was in the US in New York State and we weren't in a poverty situation. But no, there were no convulsions or fever when I had it.

Ringworm is a fungal infection. Roundworm is a worm parasite.

Sounds about as feasible as "women's problems" causing homicidal tendencies.

Exactly. The common wormy thing kids get here is threadworm/pinworm, which is relatively harmless.

The main symptom of pinworm is an itchy bum I'm sure Asawa means it as a term of endearment

Well now it was classified as "worm" and it was in a ring ... could have been either then.

A ring on the skin is fungal...no worms are involved despite the name. Roundworms are wriggly parasitic works, living in the the digestive track.

I think I should have had breakfast before my daily catch-up with BE, spaghetti no longer seems the choice of the day.

Greetings!

Thanks again for your comments and interest....

JG 68....Love the Terry Thomas analogy....Know what you mean. Thought you was going to mention Walter Mitty instead!

S-o-S....Sorry to have upset you calling you Scouse. As far as worms are concerned, I have seen no mention of high fever associated with worms which can cause convulsions. However, I take your word and hope you are correct. This may explain why the resident "worm boy" seems to always have a "fever"...

Jings......***Would you have moved to the Philippines without the prospect of a young lady friend/carer?***** Answer is yes. If I began to get problems, I would return to the sanctuary of the UK. However, I should add that my wife....then my lovely lady ....had no influence of me emigrating to the Philippines. Only on where I am now, I had other preferences....but not here.

Dorothy.....***Sounds about as feasible as "women's problems" causing homicidal tendencies**** Never said that. What was said was the extreme stress can cause homicidal tendencies....and "women's problems". There is a difference between the two statements.

Stokkevn....You are priceless....thanks for injecting your humour into this saga!

Think I have covered everything....Hope not to have to up-date in the near future.

Thanks for your interest....most appreciated.

P11 - it's probably worth you taking a deworming tablet from time to time. I'm in Dubai and occasionally take one when I give the dog his monthly pill - you never know and they are cheap as chips.

My son got pin-worms here (and in the UK( a couple of times (itchy ass) and the dog gets roundworms from his instance of having a side of bird shit with his breakfast. Roundworms make his hair fall out and he throws up.
