[QUOTE=Stokkevn;13000428]Just remove her name from your 'dependents' on your pension.[/QUOTE
There is no provision for 'dependants' if I understand correctly. Claimants must apply giving proof of eligibility.

Depends on what pension fund you are referring to.
DWP give the option to nominate.

State pension has no provison for widows

If you reached State Pension age on or after 6 April 2016

You cannot inherit your spouse or civil partner’s Additional State Pension if either:
  • your spouse or civil partner died on or after 6 April 2016 and reached (or would have reached) State Pension age on or after 6 April 2016
  • you started your marriage or civil partnership on or after 6 April 2016
https://www.gov.uk/additional-state-pension/inheriting

As far as military pension goes, there may be provision to nominate a spouse/partner but if it is similar to company/private pensions then it would be reduced if the age gap is ten years more.

If only the wife could read this... might just save P11's life, literally.

Yes... correct. But from what I understand she will be entitled to Bereavement Benefit. Not overly substantial but worth picking up. I believe she will also be entitled to a portion of my Military Pension.

Something I need to address.

But if she is not named as a dependent she can not collect either bereavement or pension percentage. I have state, private and gov pensions ( no military ones though ) and all ask for marital dependents name for which there does not seem to need any reason to remove a name ( which I have done in the past ), unlike adding one ( new wife etc ) when you need bunches of paperwork.

How if she's not your wife? And wouldn't she would have to be nominated first?

I don't know is the short answer and I need to look into that. I thought all she had to do was to send our marriage certificate and she could claim. They would have no idea that our marriage is void.

I am 72 in answer to a previous question.

My brother died in the UK a few years ago. I accompanied my SIL to an appointment to sort those sort of things out. I remember her turning in my brothers driving license and passport, and providing the death certificate, and his birth certificate. There were a myriad off other questions about pension, etc. It’s not that easy to get the bereavement allowance. As conniving as she is though, who knows.

Excluding my DWP pension I receive three other pensions. In each case my wife is the nominated survivor and provided notorised her birth certificate and our marriage certificate. I have already prepared letter for her to date and sign and to provide my death certificate on my demise. All sad but very necessary.
