That poor little dog. Anyone, vet or not, should have enough common sense to know that forcing food down the throat of a dog with those symptoms is bloody stupid. No wonder it died. Next time she wants to get something cute to play with, tell her to get a Barbie doll. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own animals

Spouse....harsh but I have to agree. However to mitigate, the food was administered with a small syringe to the side of the mouth and not great handfuls forced down the throat. This was accompanied by the medicine and water. I questioned the food aspect knowing that animals can live many days without food but water was a necessity but I would have kept a bowl nearby so he could help himself. But if I had intervened and the puppy died.....I would be to blame. My research tells me that it was a poison (MSG?) that killed him although a knowledgeable friend tells me it could have been a worm infestation. Whilst we were away, the puppy was kept in our house and visited often by her family including the kids to feed and water him. He greeted us enthusiastically when we got home and was ok that night. My wife gave him a bath and shampoo the next morning and he went down after that. He died on the 3rd day....

Regards

probably massive worm infestation. A 1usd tablet would have sorted it.

Millhouse....

Thanks. The vet reckoned she could not start a worming programme until the dog was fit enough. Here for some reason, involves injections. My dog friend here says that we should get a worm tablet and administer that if it was a worm infection. The tablets are freely available here in the market. Very sad ......Again, if I had given it a tablet and the dog died.....I would be held to blame.

Sounds like exactly what my puppy died of last year, quick deterioration, blood from both ends and refusing to eat, he died of Parvovirus as did quite a few of the dogs in the village. I should of had him vaccinated but totally forgot. As soon as you get any dog here you should give them worm tablets or mix Ivermectin ( available in any animal feed supplier ) in their food.

Vets here are not what I would call professional, a friend had 9 male dogs and one female on his gated property so he decided to stop all the fighting he would have his female neutered. Local vet called in and the deed done, 5 months later all the dogs were fighting and 5 puppies arrived a short while later. He then got the top professor from the local veterinary university to perform the operation properly, 5 months later all the dogs started fighting again. Now he puts her in a pen away from the other dogs for the 10 days, twice a year, that she is on heat.

Sorry that your wife's medical issues are still causing her pain. As for your dog, it is sad that he had to suffer so before dying. Whether it was natural or deliberate, no animal deserves to suffer like that.

I can only wish that you both would move away from where you are and find another place with better medical care and less stress so that your life would be better.

Many months ago, I gave up on you and decided not to comment any further, as you clearly are a hopeless case. But when I read about that poor little puppy, I simply had to respond. For Gods sake man when are you going to grow a pair and start taking responsibility for your your life? You didn't say or do anything to help that poor little puppy because you didn't want to be blamed if anything happened to it!!! You are a pathetic individual. I really don't give a rats arse what happens to you and your lovely lady, you clearly deserve each other, but it makes my blood boil that a poor defenceless puppy had to suffer and die, because of your pathetic attitude to everything that's happening in your life.

David M....

I have had no training in the veterinary profession....evidently you appear to have. The vet here is experienced in her profession. She specifically advised against any treatment for worms until the puppy was well enough to be administered the injection. If the dog had been administered the worm pill, I am certain that he would have brought it back up again within a few minutes as with anything else he had administered. Now, I am not arrogant enough, nor have the necessary knowledge to go against the vets advice. Perhaps you are. And yes, I would then have to take the blame for the dogs death for going against the vets professional advice. I have since learnt that our puppy most probably died from Parvovirus or was poisoned and any further medication for worms would have added to his suffering. I stand by my decision not to intercede.

Moving on.....

My wife is still suffering from abdominal pains although not so acute. So yesterday, we took the arduous journey to "The Big City" to see a specialist. She has so far had 2 ultra-sounds and been seen by 3 doctors. Being seen by 3 doctors is folly. ....they all have different opinions. The specialist gave her medication to further lower SGPT levels, UTI infection and pain killers. We have to go back in about 10 days time with new blood and urine tests. A further ultra sound will be necessary. Her hormonal problems still continue but not as severe as before. Perhaps the stresses she has been under has diminished somewhat after the catastrophic failure of her business and massive business debts. Also, after her D and C not long ago, we have had no word on the results of her routine cancer scan. No news is good news.

Regards

Philosophical isn't a vet. If the vets in this island outback are incompetent, how would the pet owner be able to recognize may be parvo? He did take the pup to a vet.
Just cool it.

Having followed Phil11's saga from the outset, myself like many others no doubt have been hoping that this thread won't suddenly go dead and leave us suspecting the worst.
Having these thoughts over the last few months, I was woken this morning by an Ava Max hit song on the radio, some of the lyrics of which immediately turned my thoughts again to this thread. I had to listen again to the song and check out the lyrics I'd been hearing.
They could just have been penned by Phil11 himself.........

"She’ll make you curse, but she’s a blessing,
She’ll rip your shirt within a second
You’ll be coming back, back for seconds
With your plate you just can’t help it
See someone said don’t drink her potions
'Cause she taste’s so sweet don’t sugar coat it
When she’s mean you know you love it
No no you’ll play along
Let her lead you on, on, on
You’ll be saying, no, no, no
Then saying yes, yes, yes
‘Cause she’s messing with your head
She’s poison but tasty
Yeah, people say, run, don’t walk away............."

Not wishing to be too indelicate, I've refrained from mentioning the song's title.
Phil, wake up. Are you listening to us?

You have no training in the medical profession either, but it doesn't stop you getting into arguments with qualified people on here that do, regarding your LL medical condition.

It doesn't need a qualified vet to realise that the life threatening condition of your puppy was not WORMS!!

Any way, over and out again.........

****You have no training in the medical profession either, but it doesn't stop you getting into arguments with qualified people on here that do, regarding your LL medical condition*****
Show me where I have had an argument with a qualified person regarding my wifes condition? I haven't.

****It doesn't need a qualified vet to realise that the life threatening condition of your puppy was not WORMS**** I never stated that the vet thought the condition was brought on by worms.

Moving on.....

My wife has had yet another consultation with a specialist regarding her hormonal problems. She believes it is caused by cervicitis if I understand it correctly and has prescribed 6 x weekly injections. A 10hr return trip to the "big city". She also believes this is linked to her abdominal pains. Cancer scan was clear and awaiting the results of a PAP test next month. All getting very expensive. .....

Regards
