Default Mandatory Pinoy music

Can you believe this?

There's really an increasing mandatory tendency here! The visitors are already here and won't be encouraged to come any more by this. They should just try to promote the culture abroad.
For music there's the language barrier and I don't think those OPM style ballads from the 70s to 90s will be liked.
I presume Pinoy rock, metal, reggae, rap etc will not be included!

At least while they are all wasting their time on this law they are not buggering up something important.

Yes! But they should be representing their constituents. Though most don't vote knowing what they do in Congress.

I looked up OPM further and it seems to now include genres other than sentimental ballads from the last century. As long as they are Pinoy artists. But only artists singing in Tagalog!
A comeback of anti-colonial nationalism here?

Comparing...we had "Brit Pop", where is that now?

To be fair, they probably all wanted to be there.

But as one who got thoroughly sick of "Champagne Supernova" after less than 10 airplays, I rather liked the headline.

A bit different here as there are many Filipino cover bands who, pre-pandemic, performed at home and all over the world. Covering mainly US rock and pop. Also some OPM rock when at home. But OPM ballads are often re-issued rather than covered by present day singers. Also record new ones in the same style.

A short You tube video about Filipino cover bands.
