Drills

The VP/Education Secretary recently back pedaled from her election time wish to make military training compulsory in public schools. She now just wants it compulsory in college. A house bill makes it optional. Though a "citizenry training programme" will be mandatory if that passes.

But she now wants an excessive two earthquake/fire drills a month in public schools:

Made me laugh that they would be "unannounced....every first and third week of every month".

A few years ago they did an unannounced earthquake drill in Manila, the DOH, Fire Dept and PNP were given a weeks notice so they could get all their equipment, machinery and personnel on the right side of all the bridges that would fall down, DOH had temporary medical centers set up two days before the drill. Government claimed it was 100% success but a Japanese earthquake expert claimed it was somewhere between a failure and a joke.
