British Restaurants

Hi,

I'm hoping to find restaurants in Cebu City which provide a good range of British (or European )food, and wine by the glass, both at reasonable prices.

If anyone can please suggest ones in Robinsons or Ayala malls, or their vicinity, I'd be very grateful for the chance to try them.

I have heard of a restaurant run by a Scot near the Robinson mall area, but have no name or location for it.

Thanks in advance.

There was a steak house in F.Ramos. Just behind Robinsons. Maybe that's the one. It is many years since I have been that way. Friend's daughter worked there for many years.
In Liloan (just outside of Consolacion) is a restaurant called Schiefer's. It is German, and caters for European tastes. I often pass it, but have never been there. I have met the owner, and he says that he tries to cater for all European tastes.
He is on the Web:

It is on the National Highway, on the right travelling North, and has a sign over the German Flag colours.

Try Jokers Bar on AS fortuna. Run by an expat and does English food - Pies, Steaks, Sausages, Beans,Sunday Roast etc. Many expats meet there.
There are a couple of others and I'm sure you'll get a few more replies!

Thanks, sorry for the delay - another cold.

I recall being told of 4-course meals available for P200-300, including freshly made soup on demand. Beef is imported (from Oz?). Meals include chili-con-carne (:eek:maybe over-hot!) and goulash (or was it stroganof). Roast potatoes very acceptable as well, unsure if that's Sundays only).

Also breakfasts (all-day ?), curries, and omelettes (always served with 2 slices of bread ). Steaks are available (maybe P600 or so), but it didn't sound like a steak house.

All maybe a bit overbudget for a soon-to-be state pensioner, but sounded economical in comparison with most other places.

I'll try to go and have a look when I've stopped coughing. :(

Yes that sounds like the place in F. Ramos, where friend's daughter worked.
So much has changed around Fuente. Before when I used to holiday here, I usually ate in Shakey's. Now I live here, and drive a car; I avoid the Rotunda like the plague. Except when I go to Chong Hua Hospital.

Robinson's, Rosita's and Rustan's sell some UK food, but only in the supermarket, not cooked.

Many British Ex-Pats are to be found on Mactan. It would be interesting to know where they eat out, for British type food.

A new restaurant will soon be opening in Cebu City. Run by a Canadian. I will get more details from my nieces.
