Best place to stay

I'm thinking of spending up to six months in the Philippines. Anyone have any tips on the best/most popular locations for an ex pat. Should I look for a rental place once in the country? Thanks

WBCA....I guess a lot depends on what you want out of your stay here. Fishing..diving...golf....exploring....etc etc. Or just for R + R.

Can you expand on that. City, province, quiet and peaceful, girlie bars. We need a bit more to go on. Oh and budget.
