Balikbayan Boxes

On the subject of Balikbayan Boxes, does anybody know if it's necessary to use the boxes supplied by the shipper? Can any box be sent via BB and if so are there any restrictions on the size of the box? I want to ship a folding bicycle, but even folded it's too big even for the Jumbo box.

No need to use their boxes, they will charge you though quite a bit even if it has less volume than the jumbo box, manly because it throws their container packing out of kilt. Years ago I sent out a TV, despite it being about 25% of the jumbo box volume I was charged more than a jumbo. Phone them up, give them the dimensions and they will give you the price.
