The Ashes
It's generally wet and the England cricket team are playing Australia at watchable times for us here. Not doing well so far in the series and at the start of the second match but making a game of it at present.
I've been watching the BT Sport coverage through: https://www.crichd.com/the-ashes-live-stream Click on one of the outlets. I've used BT Sport, Willow and Super Sport so far. You will need to persevere in deleting ad windows to get video and sound, especially the latter, maybe ten times or so. Very difficult to get full screen, I got it just once. |
Re: The Ashes
A whitewash is on the cards surely. The Aussies smell blood and won't let up.
|
Re: The Ashes
Yes, looks likely unless the top order can score more runs and they can hold more catches. Stokes now the only hope for saving the second test and he's been out of test cricket for 4 years.
Match of the Day meant literally that on Saturday and canceled EPL games will likely increase over the next few weeks so I will be watching the next test on Boxing Day nevertheless. |

Re: The Ashes
Thanks, yes, a lot better. Stream 3 best so far.
|
Re: The Ashes
Looks like we're playing for the draw - if anyone can stay in long enough :(
Anyway - I hope you guys and gals are okay over there - not sure how widespread the damage is from the typhoons but stay safe |
Re: The Ashes
we are well above the typhoon strike
The south is usually typhoon free ,similar latitude to sabah....''the land beneath the winds'' This year Luzon has missed out, they go north before they get this far, or have hit south. Only worry now is that we may have a severe water shortage in the north before next summer. |

Re: The Ashes
Yes, some areas in Mindanao unusually got a pasting and parts of the Visayas were as usual under the track of a typhoon..
The effects were wider for one establishment I visited today. Unable to transact business as their server in Cebu had been knocked out. England have got to a late tea break. Two wickets and about 30 overs left to try to survive. Butler 25 from 196 balls. Whatever the final result encouraging at least that they didn't keel over to the Aussies. |
Re: The Ashes
Another test. another early England opener wicket.
I couldn't get Vip Box to work this morning so viewing on CricHD, Beinsports stream. If you can't stand the commentary you could have the BBC's Test Match Special on. But its well behind the video. It also needs a VPN. |

Re: The Ashes
Main irritation for me is that the BT Sport ball by ball commentary has to squeeze itself into the constant chatter, which to me should be between overs.

Not the greatest first session for England though. |
Re: The Ashes
Just got a better stream through VIP Box, stream 3.
Just in time to see England's 5th wicket to fall. |
Re: The Ashes

Re: The Ashes
Seems to be but the commentators sometimes make it hard to know!
|
Re: The Ashes
One of the pundits is reported to have said the the only thing that England has got right is turning up on time.
|
Re: The Ashes
Moved to stream 3, 4 failing.
Make sure your anti virus working, mine quarantined 2 adwares this am. Apparently our bowlers historically do much worse there than anywhere else due to the prevailing conditions. Batters, yes, no excuses, |

Re: The Ashes
To quote yet another opinion about Englands performance "Gutless England batsmen deliver full spectrum of ineptitude"
How rapidly Englands meteor has fallen. Shall we blame the WOKE brigade??? |
Re: The Ashes
I've done a little research on this.
Makes a change from covid 19! Since the 60s Australia won 68 test matches against England. England won 46. But Australia only shaded it in England by 30 to 27. But at home it was 38 to 19. What is their home record against all test playing countries? In the 2000s they won 90 out of 125 test matches...and it looks soon it will be 91 out of 126! Leaving out all the draws! So they are one of the best test playing nations. But even better at home. Probably due to the pitch conditions, the travelling required in Australia? Remember Golf's Rhyder Cup? GB v USA at first. Then due to US dominance they changed to US v Europe in 1979. Maybe they can do that with cricket tests in Australia? |

Re: The Ashes
Telling that England's head coach was an England test bowler who only played in 6 tests. He spent a year as their bowling coach before becoming head coach. But batting is where they are most deficient.

In terms of test match runs this year- after Root with an average of 61, the next highest average this year is Malan at 34.2 - https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...am=1;type=year - nowhere near good enough |
Re: The Ashes
Only Covid can save us from a whitewash.
|
Re: The Ashes
The 4th test still on but England's head coach Chris Silverwood will miss it due to being forced into 10 day isolation after contact with a covid case.. Graham Thorpe, his deputy, will be head coach for the game. He was involved with batting coaching in Australia a decade ago and Adam Hollioak is being brought in.
Hopefully these forced moves might help with the batting. |

Re: The Ashes
Not a whitewash test series. They hold on with 9 wickets down for a draw.
