The cricketers won a high scoring 1st test against Pakistan yesterday. By 74 runs. There are two more tests this month. I am usually able to find some Indian sports site to watch free.

It was a brilliant victory. The first time England have won in Pakaistan for many many years.. and in fact England have only won in Pakistan 3 times in all their history of playing there, which shows the significance of the feat. A brilliant team effort, great captaincy, and great support... not just from the few hardy Brits, but from the Pakistani supporters who who applauded almost all lthat both teams did, who were full of praise for England playing so boldly and bravely.

Test cricket's falling popularity could be reversed if there were more matches like that. After a poor run of results Stokes took over the captaincy from Root and New Zealander McCullum was brought in as Head Coach (he's a fellow countryman to Stokes). Assistant coach Collingwood said the other day that to take risks to win is the new policy. Hope Southgate's taking note!

Dreary dull forever cautious Gareth might have taken notes but I reckon he threw the notes away immediately after taking said note. Winning at all costs is not exactly Gareths mantra.

Maguire has just come out, one could say somewhat prematurely, saying we can win the World Cup. Yet he was beaten twice in the first half. against Senegal. That will be noted by France. But Southgate will stick with him.Then the midfield spent more than 30 mins passing sideways too much. After 35 minutes our talented attack finally got going. Let's hope they don't repeat that delay on Saturday.

Harry Maguire, fabulously overpaid and wonderfully unintelligent. Of course when the Greek police come for you, you run fight then bribe. Very normal. Why do players who cant really see the wood for the trees make such stupid statements. And equally, in total agreement with @Raffin.
Harry is a master of passing sideways...then again England football in general is fairly good at that too. You never see Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea endlessly pass back to the keeper and yet England have always done that. Pickford saw more of the ball than Bellingham... ....

Again you're showing you haven't been watching England for many years. Sixteen as they last lost a World Cup penalty shoot out in 2006. They actually won one in 2018 vs Colombia.
There's no point in you commenting anymore on the England football team as you obviously don't follow them. at least, if not the game in general.
Fyi the BBC says Kane holds the record for scoring the most penalties in the World Cup, 4. Anyone can miss one, Messi did.
Kane's second effort against his team mate Hugo Loris may well have been saved anyway if on target as Loris guessed right. With hindsight may have been better to choose another taker for the second as they know each other so well.

We'll look forward to some success for the Rugby Union team (I presume not Rugby League) now they have sacked the manager!
Meanwhile could be an unprecedented whitewash for Pakistan in a few days time as England have just won the 2nd test by 29 runs. Though for a time Pakistan looked like they could make it.
