In my present position I worked with 2 great examples. One American Lt. Col, and one British Major. The stories are great .

“This is a warning to everybody because based on the Revised Penal Code, as amended on stiffer penalties under Republic Act No. 10951, you can be punished by disseminating, posting fake news so again we discourage people to do this,” Gamboa said during a televised press briefing.

The police chief said the PNP would soon show an “example” on how purveyors of false information can face charges.

A text message that recently made rounds claimed that the Philippines was vulnerable to looting because the average Filipino family only had a week’s worth of savings. The message cited a supposed study by the US State Department.

Officers were also dispatched to areas where social media users claimed there were incidents of looting and found no such crimes there, said PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac".

Some positive news for those of us who transfer on a regular basis £ to pesos.
Latest forecast on UK economy is showing a 9.5% decline, whereas the Philippines has published -15%. There is already a reaction showing in the exchange rate,

Asian Development Bank forecasting remittances from Filipinos abroad to drop by over 20% this year. They usually contribute a tenth of GDP. Puts more households into poverty and in need of more government dole outs. A double depressing effect on the PhP.

Yes agreed. I remember those heady days in the 2000's when it was PHP120 to £1. Perhaps we will see some restoration to our own circumstances we as have all been affected by Brexit. Lets hope selfishly for a positive double whammy when Bozzo completes the extraction from the EU.

The Brexit negotiations on a trade deal have been over shadowed by Covid up to now so reports that they have not been going well haven't moved the forex markets. That may change soon. So yes, let's all hope a decent trade deal can be agreed...in usual fashion probably at the last minute at the end of the year. Boris is set against any extra time. Also we need to be concerned about signs of a second Covid wave.
