Hi,
Despite living in Italy for many years I still have some person belongings stored in the UK. I now need to bring them to Ity due to a change of circumstances and would prefer to drive them over in a van myself. Everything is secondhand and used and belongs to me.
Can anybody offer any advice on what I need to do in terms of documentation or even advise me of a company who might ve able to help with the paperwork without them doing the move.
Would I need to itemise every item in advance? This would be a pain as I work fu time in Italy and everything is in the UK.
I am prepared to pay and import duties if need be as I don't imagine it should be too much.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hi, and welcome to British Expats!
Unfortunately, since Brexit, it's not so easy to move household goods from the UK into Italy. You'll need to complete the correct documents and file customs declarations to allow you to exit the UK and enter Italy. I'd strongly recommend using an experienced mover to do this, but if you're set on doing it yourself it would be best to get a Customs Agent to do it on your behalf as getting it wrong can be time-consuming and costly! (Sorry I can't recommend one as I don't know who deals with private individuals direct. There is a list of agents here that you could try https://www.gov.uk/guidance/list-of-...rcel-operators).
You can find all the information on customs rules and documentation required here: https://www.fidi.org/customs-guides . You will need to provide a list of the goods (If you use a household goods mover you can use their packing list).
Because you have lived in Italy for many years it may be that you are not eligible for duty-free import as this tends to require bringing the goods in within 12 months of your arrival, but your customs agent will be able to advise once they understand your individual circumstances.
Hope that helps a little.
