Small loads? Sharing?

Just wondering if anyone is about to move from BC - Vancouver Island or lower mainland to England UK? If you are having a container shipped, especially if your employer is funding this, might I be able to 'hitchhike' space for my sewing machine and a few other household items, in your container? The box I would like to ship weighs about 25kg and measures 18x18x30 inches. It is all non urgent but quotes for airfreight even via online re-sellers come back at about $1000. I cannot justify such costs but would like to get my favourite things back to the UK so can anyone offer to rent me just a little bit of space please? Need to send by 18 October but arrival time in UK is completely flexible. All items are 'repatriation' of personal things so no customs/import implications and happy to bring box unsealed so you can check the contents.

Would also welcome any suggestions or experience on achieving small load shipping at reasonable cost. Thanks

Re: Small loads? Sharing?

Hi,

I would suggest you contact some international removal companies who offer shared load services for your requirements so that all the paperwork etc. can be filed correctly with the owner of the goods listed correctly for any liability for the items (for example if there are any duties/taxes or other customs issues) as if you put this box in someone else's container without declaring it as more than one shipper they are essentially taking on the liability for your goods and declaring them as their own.

Alternatively if it's just one box you might consider excess baggage and taking this item with you when you travel back?

Hope that helps!
