Default University admission in NZ and other newbie trivia.

Been in ChCh for 3 months now and things are falling into place.
Education for my children - one now joining Uni and the other in Intermediate school has worked out great! The Uni admission was always a worry (even for someone who did well at A levels in the UK) but I'm pleased to report a good outcome.
Folks at the workplace are friendly although a little distant, even a trifle suspicious when one considers the famous Kiwi inclusiveness. But as a Kiwi friend pointed out, kiwis like to know if you'll settle before reaching out. (Well I don't know about settling yet)
ChCh is rapidly moving forward and I can't see a negative attitude. THere are shops and restaurants opening up all the time.
Groceries are expensive but the quality is super and the food is 'cracking'. Even my cooking tastes nicer. As my daughter said - Waitrose quality at the local Tesco's.
I feel like I have been here for over a year and I mean it in a most positive sense!
