IT took 4 1/2 years but ...................
Well we have been in NZ, Dunedin for over 4 1/2 years and have been mortgage free for that time, have done UNI, both got new jobs, good jobs and a career. Got a 4x4 plus another motor, a Jet Ski for that all important fun time and time out, but for us that dream of owning a place out of town in the country with no neighbours and a wee bit of land around it was something we needed to achieve, so after much deliberation we went for a place in the countryside and got the offer accepted, our house is an 3 bed, two lounge ex state house, with all day sun and sea views, nothing flash, but good solid and well maintained home, last Wednesday after 17 days on the market it went to auction, we went along for the experience and ours was up second, the first house was a brick p,lace and went for $200k, ours was up next......... they started the bidding at $140k, silence arrghh but then off it went, 140, 150, 160 and up to $200k and then went more there were 2 very strong bidders and it got to $220 k, our reserve was $190k , awesome and what a ripper, so we now have a 4 bed house that we will move into on 18th Dec , its on 1 acre of land, we get chickens, and the ride on lawn mower is in the deal, its valued at $385k and we got it for $335k it was the old school house that has been professionaly converted into a huge 220m2 house, we only have 120m2 so it is a wee bit big,but we like it.
So life is good, the new mortgage for a wee bit is based on a floating rate,a nd our savings help reduce the rate each month, we still have a wee bit to do the things we want to the place.
So in these last 4 1/2 years we have had a great experience in NZ, and my saying " hard work brings succes, and the only time success comes before work is in the dictionary " rings true.
In laws land 23dec and have been here 3 times, and they dont know lol so it will be a great surprise for them, peace and quite and the smell of cow poo and country air lol.
NIge and family , still rocking NZ

great news Nige, where abouts is your new place? Is it somewhere I would know? Sounds ideal. That is our plan if we don't build ourselves, get a bit of land out in the country.

Once we get in there, we will let you guys know, if you fancy atrip down south we will have extra rooms now to accommodate those who would like to see Otago and the surrounding area.
Will try and post some links soon.
Yes its bloody awesome, Bev's its been a long time coming, we were at aparty near where we have bought last night and met all the locals, who will be are neighbours, they started offering us , Sheep, Cattle, Pony rides for our daughter, and even better , we took our daughter to a school out in the wops area, and she liked it, and also to school bus stops outside the house gate, we drove to the house last night and stopped the truck and wound the windows down and listend to the silence, yum, and how dark it was , its was so loverly lol cant wait to sit on the dick and have a beer, and listen to nothing.
