Time to move on
#1

I'll start by saying that I love my life here in NZ. Sure it's not perfect but nowhere is! I've been here just over 6 years and have achieved all that I set out to do - despite quite a few bumps and bruised knees along the way. I made good friends, although many of them have now left NZ. I've even met quite a few lovely BE people in real life! I've had some interesting jobs (5 different jobs in 6 years!!), met some great (and not so great) people, travelled all over the country and had some wonderful experiences.
I came here on my own for an adventure but the pull of family back in the UK, especially those with ill health, has made me want to spend more time with them. However, I have decided to compromise and where possible spend time in both the Northern and Southern hemisphere (my dream is to follow the sun) and see a lot more of other countries too!
So now the house is sold and I move out in 4 weeks, this month's task is selling off all my worldly possessions. Trademe, Facebook, garage sales etc.... it's a full time job in itself!! (If anybody wants to come to my garage sale in Wellington or see my onlline listings, please send me a PM for details).

Best of luck with your next adventure Capp. Sounds like you have an excellent plan in place. Totally with you on the pull of family and ill health, such a tough one. Good on you

I'm giving so much of my stuff to the Op Shop, they offered me a job! Now I'm volunteering 2 afternoons a week there!
Having a mega garage sale tomorrow to sell the remainder (message me if you want the address) - still have whitegoods/car/bed/desk/small tables/ornaments & artwork/garden plants & pots etc...

I wish you well. I am thinking of returning to the UK for a few reasons. One selfish reason is I can barely make ends meet here and have no healthcare. My parents are getting on in age.. my mum just turned 77 my dad 84, not many years left . I would like to go back and help them out. The main thing holding me back is missing my grandkids and daughter and also finding a place that takes dogs.. Good Luck with your journey. Be brave.

Thank you all for your good wishes. Tonight is the last night in my house then I fly to Auckland tomorrow to spend the weekend with friends before flying to LA on Monday. I'm doing a bit of a stopover in LA and then Canada and due to arrive in the UK mid July. The last few weeks have flown by and I have been really busy organising the house sale etc.. I still love NZ but I'm off for a big adventure for a while. Bye for now.
