3 Years - Where Did That Go?!
I can't believe we've been here three years since last week? The time has gone so fast and yet it felt like "home" straight away! My old life in the UK seems so distant now it's barely memorable.
I still absolutely love New Zealand. I totally love where we have chosen to live and think it's by far the best place we could have chosen. Well, "I" could have chosen! The weather is fantastic, the beaches amazing, the people wonderful and to be honest I can't imagine living anywhere else.
It's not been without it's ups and downs. Since my "2 Year Update" the oldest two have found boyfriends, a Kiwi accent and an attitude to boot. The eldest nearly dropped out of school, but has now decided to finish Year 13.
The youngest two are real little Kiwi's, no shoes, playing out every day, surfing, sports, no fear etc!
I started my own business 7 months ago, and although most of the time run off my feet, it seems to be going well thus far.
We nearly lost my dog, twice in the last year. But after having his tow amputated a couple of weeks ago through a cancerous tumour, he seems to have gained 5 years +!
I don't miss the UK, but then that's just me, my husband misses his sister and was gutted she couldn't come over as planned in February as she's expecting another baby.
We've had out first visit overseas, to the Gold Coast, it was great for the kids (we took 6 of them!) but lovely to arrive in Auckland and be told "Welcome Home." I'm away again in August to a friend's wedding in New York and then promised family I'd visit them in the UK, so I'm going for 2 days!
I guess the real change since the last update is that my husband and I have recently separated, so no doubt this will make Year 4 different then the previous three. One thing I can say is I am so glad I went all out to meet people and mix and socialise and also to try to help other newbies with meet-ups etc, as I have been overwhelmed with the kindness and offers of support from so many people it has knocked me out.
Here's to the next 3 years!

There's usually a bottle chillin' or a mug of tea brewing here at Te Puna if you're passing (till 15th May)
Keep smiling, enjoying and stay happy......

Bet it seems like yesterday you were packing up to go?
I am not surprised you have settled so well in NZ.You are always so upbeat on here and really have such a positive attitude. Your sense of humour shines through a lot of your posts
Good luck to you in the next coming year, going to be quite a change for you and the kids.
Cheers

Re: 3 Years - Where Did That Go?!
Thanks you lot.
Meant to add, the only real negatives I still have are the racism issues and the education. Two out of the four kids seem to be doing really well at school, but the other two not so well. I guess it could be their personalities and academic ability to a certain extent, we'll have to wait and see.
