Default Nursing in Texas

Hi,
I am a british trained RN (adult). I qualified 2005. I am looking to register in Texas. This is a very new process to me. I have just started doing the NEC process thru CGFNS but my worry is l do not have obstetric .. though I did complete hours in mental health. Learning disabilities. And child development during my training years l am worried this won't be enough... the nursing agency seems to think it's fine..

You will need both clinical and theory hours in Obstetrics as U.S. Nurses are general trained and this would also be expected for Adult, Paeds and Mental Health. If your transcripts show both clinical and theory in these areas you should be okay

My understanding is there is no universities in the UK offering opportunities to make up these hours. There used to be one university but they stopped offering the courses years ago

It might be worth asking in the main US forums as well, as often people don't look at the professions section, so you might find some helpful advice from the folks there to add to Silverdragon's excellent info.

Best of luck.
