Exclamation Waiting for a nursing job before getting a visa?

Hi there,

I am now registered as a NZ nurse. I have started applying for jobs but I notice a lot stipulate they want applicants to already have work visas. However, I am intending to apply for a skilled migrant visa so am waiting until I receive an offer of employment before I can lodge application for this visa.
Is this the general thing most overseas nurses do? I am worried employers will disregard my application as I cannot say I have insitu a work visa, not until I get a job offer can I apply for a skilled migrant visa.

I am just wondering what others experience of this has been.

Many thanks x

9/10 you will need a job offer to make up points for the SMC visa.....all the district health boards are accredited by the INZ so are used to working with migrants...my job offer is obviously conditional on me getting a visa and they say the start date is tentative as long as I keep them in the loop with the visa progress they will move it back if needed
