Applying for skilled visa as RN

Hello to all of you .

Does anyone know whether is compulsory to have at least 3 years experience as RGN to qualify for a skillselect visa or not? I have seen that some of you haven't got yet 3 years experience and you're already thinking to apply for a visa.

Can we have a successful skill assessment with only 2 years experience as
RGN ?

Thank you very much to all .

For a visa you need a valid skills assessment, proof of English ability, to be under the age of 50 and be able to pass the points test. If you can do this without experience then you are good to go. Have a look at this booklet - http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1119.pdf

Thank you old.sparkles for your answer.

I would like to apply for skills assessment and I am not too sure whether is required 3 years experience at this stage or later, for visa application.

However saying that, I know if I have 3 years experience I will get 5 points but if I have only 2 years, I don't get any points. Based on my calculation I can still make 60 points without 5 points from experience. Would my application be consider and successful?!

I would like to know if someone had been in the similar situation like me and what was the outcome. I don't want to waste money and rather wait until I have 3 years experience.

Thank you.

I know of at least one person in another occupation that obtained a skilled visa with no experience - it depends on the requirements of the skills assessment. I looked at the ANMAC site and couldn't see the requirement for 3 years experience but it was only a quick look. There is no requirement from DIBP.

I've moved the posts to their own thread as the were off topic to the other thread, and it will be easier for others to see who might be able to help :)

If you have AHPRA, you SHOULD be able to get a visa with 2 year's post grad. Depending upon your nursing specialism, you may be able to get employer sponsorship (457 visa).

Do you need AHPRA to get a skilled visa? You need ANMAC I thought for the visa, and AHPRA to work in Australia

True, but I'm trying to say that there are alternatives available to Registered Nurses, other than a Skilled Visa.

But 457 are temporary visas that tie you to an employer, and if you lose your job for whatever reason, you have 90 days to find a new employer or leave Australia.

Yes, I am aware of those facts, and we make all applicants aware of them.

Are you a Registered Migration Agent?

I am not, so generally, I don't like to give visa advice.

I do however have an associate who is an Australian Registered Migration Agent, and questions relating to visa issues are directed to him.

No not at all - just making it clear for anyone reading.

OK. I concede your point. 457 Employer sponsorship is tied to the sponsoring employer, and if you lose your job and cannot arrange a transfer of the visa to another employer, you must leave Australia.

Additionally, after TWO year's employment with the sponsoring employer, 457 visa holders can ask to be sponsored as Permanent Residents.

However, due to the continuing controversial changes to the 457 visa, we are now advising applicants (especially those with fmilies), to seriously consider a PR visa from the outset.

What controversial changes would they be? That doesnt sound too promising!

Well, it's ongoing, but you will be OK as this year's numbers are set. ;-)
