ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

Hello,
Could anyone help me please. I lodged an application with QNC in June. Early July my documents got returned to me and I was told to apply to AHPRA. I filled in application and sent it off to a PO Box address in Melbourne, as at the end of the application form it clearly says that that is where postal applications should be lodged. I have today telephoned AHPRA to see what is happening and was told that I was wrong and I should have sent it direct to AHPRA in queensland. Now I have been transferred to several people , none of whom can see me on the system! I'm unsure whether I should send another application off! I have the packers coming today and where as I should be excited I'm terrified that rego won't come through before I move in October.
Has anyone got any clarity from AHPRA?

Thanks
Beth

Have they taken any money from you?

No they haven't taken anything.

Re: ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

Well, if QNC were anything to go by, this is the first thing they do.
It may well be worth re-submitting your application to QLD. Any idea how long they are taking with applications? It should be a quiet time for them at the mo.
Lots of luck & hopefully you will get some more replies soon:fingerscrossed:

Hi,
Can anyone confirm the address of where to send my application of 2 for nursing in Brisbane. I thought everything went to Melbourne but apparently not!
Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

My daughter had similar problems- sent everything off to QNC but due to change over to AHPRA was all sent back with the new form and more requirements. One of her certified documents is missing and no replies to e-mails. Please tell me if you sent same certified documents to AHPRA and did you have to get the same person to sign the new application and c.v. Don't see any other address in Queensland that you could have sent your one to. It states clearly Melbourne.

Hi, when i applied from overseas it did take a little bit longer.
As for AHPRA you send it to GPO Box 9958 (in your capital city)
Brisbane etc, hope this helps

On the Home page of the AHPRA site there is a Contact Us link in the very bottom corner, takes you to THIS PAGE

That should help with addresses. :)

Re: ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

I did get an email response from them re a query I had. Took 10 days for them to respond. I find their website a bit of a nightmare and not user friendly at all :(

I have finally managed to figure it all out though and I am just waiting for my police check to come through and I will be posting off my documents.

Good luck, seems to take 3 months to process.

Nessie :)

Hi Nessie,

How did you go about getting the police check?

Also, do you maybe have a link to the application form as I need to get mine processed asap and am finding the site rather difficult to figure out.

Thanks.:)

Hi there! You can get the police check through this link...
http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp
I got it through the HR department from the hospital I will be working in. I only qualified last September, been working as a nurse since November 2009 but when I went to see them in melbourne last June they told me they didn't mind a lot if experience. I got offered the job after doing the interview at beginning if July and after the references. I would definitely register in ahpra first as it might be stressful and a lengthy process!!! Good luck!

Lovely, thank you so much.

Do you maybe have a link to the application form on the aphra website?

Did you go over specifically to look for jobs?

I sent my application to AHPRA 3 weeks ago in Queensland, I called them the other morning and YES they have my application.. However, they then went on to say that they are NOT processing any overseas applications at the moment and that they have NO process in place to register me!! They then went on to say that they WILL take my money pending the process...

Has anyone else heard this??? I feel I have hit another brick wall?? In response to your query if they have taken the money I assume that something must be happening regarding the process.. however the lady on the telephone new nothing!!! I have emailed them direct and heard nothing!

Not seen that reported anywhere else at all. Bearing in mind that other people who have phoned them have got a different answer to things every time they ring, I'd be tempted to call them again.............

Hi

Link for registration form:

http://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/Forms.aspx

Its the overseas one you will need to complete ( second form listed).

I contacted my local police dept and they directed me to their website where I was able to download the application form, the check costs £10 and can take up to 40 days. Mine came in today after 3 weeks of waiting.

Had to contact AHPRA again re where to post the form and they got back to me within 24hrs!

Good luck

Nessie;)

Hi Nessie,

It only took 3 weeks to get your registration?? Thats amazing! lucky you.. Where are you heading in Aus. I will contact AHPRA again this week and see if there has been any progress with my application. Perhaps the lady I spoke too new nothing and I'm best speaking to someone else, very difficult to get in touch with them with the time difference.

Fingers crossed I will be registered soon.

Hi Ruth

It took 3 weeks for my police check to come through, I'm just about to send my forms to APHRA.

I'm off to Melbourne to work as a psychiatric nurse, going on a 457 visa.

Let us know how you get on with APHRA - their website is a nightmare!

Nessie :)

Hi Ruth,
I submitted my paperwork to the Victoria Nursing Board in May and the fee for same was taken on 4th June however my application wasn't processed (reason unknown) and mid July my documents were returned to me with the new AHPRA application form. I duly returned the application with the additional information as requested and since then I have contacted AHPRA frequently for updates on its progress
only to be told that they are not processing overseas applicants as they are still awaiting guidelines on how to do same. I find this incredible that a national organisation would be set up without such important guidelines being set in place. I have contacted AHPRA through their website several times to express my concerns but as yet have recieved no response. I have seen online forums that confirm I'm not alone in this situation however I really feel it is unacceptable. Myself and my family are desperate to start our new life in Victoria and I have a job that I am desperate to start in Ringwood Hospital and I am really worried that I will lose this opportunity as my start date as already been put back as the hospital are unable to apply for my visa until I have recieved my registration. Today I have also sent an email to Daniel Andrews who is the minister of health for Victoria advising him of the situation and asking for assistance in resolving same.

Regards

Maggie

Hi,
I have noticed today that my payment to Ahpra has left my account. This is from when I applied to them at the begining of July.

Re: ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

Hi, I'm a UK nurse also registered to work in NZ so have applied to AHPRA under the trans-mutual recognition pathway. I posted my form to the PO BOX number and where it asked for 'Your Capital City' address it to Perth WA as that is where I will be living and working. I only posted it 1 month ago, no idea if it's got there, now even doubting i've sent it to the right place. No reply from various emails....staring to panic a little now. Should I ring? Which number would you suggest? No number is listed for the Perth office (assuming there is actually one!).

Where on the application form does it say you have to submit a police check?

All I can find is the declaration where you give permission for them to do a police check.

Have I missed a bit?

Nope I don't think so, I didn't send one with my application and am now registered with them. My husband has just sent his of to medical side of AHPRA and just had to sign that he was happy for them to check his history. You will need a police check for visa though.

Hi, this is the first time I have put anything on the forum as quite new to it so hope do it right!
I agree the APHRA website and application form are very complicated. Thought I had just about got my head round it but am worried about the posts saying you need to send of a police check with the application-where does it say that please?
Also I am stumped my Q6 which asks for the address of your principal place of employment in Australia. I am currently waiting to hear about a job through an agency but don't have any definite address for the job. Anybody know what you are supposed to put for this?
Thanks!

Hi, and welcome to B.E :)

For question 6 I think I'm just going to put my work address even though it's currently in the UK.
We don't need to send police checks - we just sign the declaration. As a previous poster has said, police checks are just needed for the visa application.
Hope this helps :)

Hi just wondering if you had any joy with the minister for health supporting your application to AHPRA. I am considering doing the same or similar, fed up with waiting, being told wrong info, and now trying to keep a job open till rego comes through, which could be in 3-4 months, who knows!!! Would love to know how you got on. Thanks Lizzard.

Hi

I recently contacted David Davis Health Minister for Victoria,, who promptly responded to my email asking to arrange a time to speak with me. Despite emailing him back twice he failed to email me again. If you look up the online newspaper The Age.com and enter AHPRA into their search engine you will find there has been a lot of contact with AHPRA and health ministers so hopefully things may be moving.

I submitted my application to AHPRA in September 2010. I recently wrote a written complaint to them and hey presto my money has finally been taken from my account. I won't hold my breath though!

I think the mess on the home front is being sorted out first before us international nurses are being looked at though.

Good luck you will get there in the end.

Nessie ;)

Re: ANYONE HAD LUCK WITH AHPRA

hello everyone,

I sent my application July 2010 was on granted only in March 2011. I waited that long. Ahpra have lots of backlogs to process and they process application by date of receipt of the application. I submitted my papers July and was looked at February. Probably by now, they are working on applications received August or September. It will be a long waiting though and needs tantamount of patience and perseverance. I went through depression since i have been out of work for almost a year now, just working on all this rego process. Good luck to all of you and i hope you all will extend ur patience coz its the only least thing we can do. Many complaints have been brought to the higher court that's why things are getting a bit faster now. :fingerscrossed:
