Default Zest building?

Hi, so me and my wife have got our visas, past out medicals and coming to nz on the 23rd of feb!! We are on 23 month work visas ATM and are looking to travel round the South Island first off but are hopefully going to try to settle in auckland for a while if we can both find jobs, and so my question is has anyone actually lived in the zest apartment building?? We are really wondering what they are like? Just for the short term really, a 2 bedroom apartment would probably be within our budget, we've already been told they are very small but that won't really matter as it's not going to be a family home or anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated 😊

Just done a Google search on these and boy are they tiny, 36m2. Haven't lived in them but lived in an apartment on Ronayne Street back in 2005 which was twice the size of this. It was great for accessing the city but it was so noisy with the traffic. I would find out if it's double-glazed for starters and as it seems to have been built in 2005 then I would guess that the likelihood is that it isn't.

I didn't sleep properly for 11 weeks when we lived in the city but if you're heavy sleepers then it shouldn't be a problem. I'd feel like a caged-animal in one but if you're okay with this then go for it.

The upside is you don't have to worry about falling out of bed and there is a front loader - sorted!!

Every darned place I ever stayed in NZ has the exact same F&P Top Loader.

Not in all the apartments though. The video I watched had your dreaded F&P Top Loader Bo .

Yes F&P Top Loader and dishwasher all the apartments lived in so far! The first apartment we were in also started to leak everywhere and we had to move out in a hurry. Don't know anything about the Zest apts but something to be aware of as it is a fairly common problem especially in CBD.

Another question we have is, if we want to rent an apartment how do we get around the fact that we would have no references? And also anyone know how easy it would be to get a short term contract sort of three months rather than the usual 6 ?
