IMHO, if anyone can't enjoy xmas in warm weather, they are slightly mental.
But, I must stress that it's only my humble opinion.

it's our 1st Christmas but Christmas for us is about being together as a family and enjoying the day. We won't be seeing our UK families other then over Skype but we are having another family over for a Christmas buffet in the afternoon and hope to be laughing, shouting at the kids to keep the noise down, getting full stomach's and then maybe a walk down to the beach with the dogs.

Ricky, yup, totally struggling with Christmas in summer again. Just like last year. I thought it would get better.....oh well. It was nice having Pimms and lemonade whilst my husband cooked a barbeque on Christmas Eve last year. Yeah, could have done that in Summer in Britain. You don't see anyone bragging about staying in in June, July and August in New Zealand.
My savoury sausage rolls are a Christmas tradition, the smell of them baking is the smell of Christmas Eve in our house. I can't really be bothered to bake them this year. I'm having to make myself though on a, 'suppose I better' basis.
Christmas in summer . What's to celebrate ?

Always glad to oblige.
I am actually a bit of a bah humbug. BUT I do tip the wink to the shortest day in June and have a bit of a feast then.
Not quite sure why Aussies do Xmas in July when it should around 23 - 25 June.
Outside with the BBQ at Crimble suits just fine.

Yes this will be our 6th Christmas here, never the same but I will still enjoy spending time with my hubby and girls, eating drinking, watching movies and making the most if it, especially if the weather is good. But yes that Christmas feeling has gone since living here. I'm only glad that my kids had great memories of cold dark winter Christmases when they were little.
Just embrace it people its soon over.

My OH's aunt and uncle have been in NZ (from UK) for 30 years now and they say they are still not used to Christmas in the sunshine. We experienced a Kiwi Christmas last year and quite liked it. It felt weird in the sunshine but I liked the laid back approach. In the UK it's so commercial and all about presents and who's spending how much on who and who's getting who what. Tis all quite stressful TBH!
