Default Is it worth shipping the car?..

Hello All,

Is it worth putting the car in a container?...

We are thinking of taking the car, its a 98 golf convertable.
I know cars are a couple of grand more in NZ.

Is the extra cost for the bigger container worth it?

Can anyone tell me what the procedure and rough cost of receiving the car in NZ please.

Thanks again guys.

Gary

We brought ours and imported it (2000 New Beetle) story here - use the search function and you'll find plenty of posts with useful info.

PLENTY of New Beetles about on the Shore, which are a re-bodied Golf of the same era as yours...whether or not it is worth it depends on finance and sentimental attachment....

No they aren't really that hard work, but parts do sometimes come from Europe and servicing perhaps costs a bit more because of it, but there are specialist dealers and mechanics around most of the main cities and towns so you won't really have to worry too much.

No, you won't have a problem getting it repaired but it depends where you move to. I wouldn't bring it myself but only because it's a convertible. The sun is very unforgiving here and when you're whistling down the road at 100km/h, with the wind in your hair, you won't notice the sunburn you're getting until it's too late! I speak from experience!
