Work experience and qualifications received after work experience.

Hello,

I am thinking about applying for a Visa to New Zealand. It states that qualifications must have been received before stated work experience. My work experience was when I was self-employed for 7 years. It was only after being self-employed did I go back to college to get a qualification.

Has anyone experience of this or can advise me on this, thanks.

I think the statement is pretty clear.
i could say Ive been a plumber for 5 years cos I once changed a tap washer. Without something to back it up, it's not going to count

Hi Justcol,

yes for sure you are right. My situation is, that I was self-taught from early teenage years, close to 15 years. Than I went self employed for 7 years (I have Tax returns for those years). It's only then did I go to college and get a qualification.

It's a pity that there is no way to show/prove my skills? Is there?

No its qualification then work experience for the reason already given by Justcol. Also you would need to get qualification assessed by NZ Immigration to see it meets the required standard.
