The wonders of HMRC
Been in NZ 4 years and do not pay tax to the UK code NT. Last month the UK tax man decided to tax me on a small private pension. I wrote and explained that I do not pay UK tax so please correct the fault.
HMRC answer :-
I have updated the tax code for your income from ************* to NT (No Tax). Your pension provider will then give you back the tax that we owe you by taking off less tax from your pension.
Question...where is the refund going to come from

Nowhere by that mechanism. My guess that is a standard letter with just the start and end tax codes as variables but it doesn't work with an NT end code.
You have to write to them again and request a refund by a different means.

Postage has already used up the refund... Will I ever get out of their clutches........
