Re: Wine
We decided not to go I don;t eat meat and it looks like it's a "tasting menu" with few or no meat-free or fish options

Re: Wine
Ouch that brings back memories of many a headache.
Did you ever have Blackberry Nip in the UK ?
It was sweet and thickish heavy but very easy to drink. It was sold in flagons and man did that pack a punch.
Many nights I snuck into the nurses home in the early hours to get woken for duty at 5.30 am with a pulsating head full of pain.
Best NZ wine I have ever had came from here:-

It is not cheap and is our personal "special occasion" treat.
Great day out

Re: Wine
In an effort to raise the tone of the forum I thought a discussion about New Zealand wines might be in order.
Personally I don't drink red as one glass gives me a headache but my fave whites so far are Waipara, Shingle Peak, Greywacke and Cloudy Bay, all sauvignon blancs (or "sav" as they say here).
But I am always looking for recommendations, even for a red with less tannins.
What's your tipple?
EDIT: If you've found any beer whatsoever that comes close to Boddingtons you're allowed to post that too, for Neil

Re: Wine
No worries on the plate Jan, I didn't know you could get boddington's here, never really looked for it to be honest as I didn't think it would ever be available!

Re: Wine
Also LiquorLand on Riccarton regularly have it, and LiquorKing on Papanui sometimes have it. The Fox and Ferret opposite Westfield quite often have it on draught - at a price!
