With the summer we have been having so far we could do with some of those warmer temperatures predicted by EXPERTS over here. My home town in Ireland got a high of 14 degrees yesterday in winter while we are getting a high of 16 here lol

It's nothing unusual and I wouldn't focus on temps too much. It's still summer, the days are longer and you can go out and enjoy + it could be worse like Australia. Don't forget that the last 2 summers were scorchers for you anyway and not normal but for you in Christchurch it will get hotter this coming weekend. This is more relevant for Wellington but true https://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-pos...r-from-perfect New Zealand is an island nation, close to the Southern Ocean, and expects to have changeable weather at all times of year. We don't get the luxury of clockwork continental climatology. Instead we have a generally temperate maritime climate."

Ugh. Been in Oz over Xmas/new year. Can't wait to get back to Chch's summer.

I'm Australian and this place is too hot for me. 46 degrees last week on Central coast.

Seeing the bushfire catastrophy happeningin Oz is a shock. I've not seen it that bad in my 52 years.

Smoke is possibly cutting down the temperatures a bit by filtering the sunshine as well.
