Re: Where does everyone live
From Dartford, Kent, although I have lived in several different parts of NW UK & Wales in my younger years, as an adult I moved to central London & gradually moved further & further South. Culminating in the big move to Rotorua in 2008. I didn't really get much say in choosing Rotorua as a destination, quite simply it's where the job offer was. It seemed an acceptable starting point, thinking that if we didn't settle it'd be easier to change from within NZ than holding out for an alternative offer (that may never have happened). As it happens Rotorua works for us. Great friends, great location, enough to keep me busy & not too far a drive to beaches, mountains & bigger cities. All good.

Re: Where does everyone live
Originally from Beckenham, Kent. Am in Pukerua Bay as husband got talking to a guy on FB who happened to live here and during chats he offered hubby a bed if he wanted to visit.
Hubby did visit and got a job offer in Karori within the first week which left me and the kids having to sell UK house and come over. Loved PKB area as its a lovely small community but also easy access to lots of beaches, shopping area's and a good commute to Wellington. Husband gets a lift to work from a work colleague who picks him up on the way through from Raumati Beach. sweet as

Re: Where does everyone live
I lived in Burnham, near Windsor, Berkshire, and my partner is from Milan. We moved to Christchurch for 9 months, then been in Wellington for over a year and 4 months, doesn't look like many people on here live there, everyone seems to go for Auckland)?? we love Wellington as for us it's a small, extremely friendly city. Not bothered at all by the wind and the rain, totally used to the wind shaking the house lol, and when the sun is out it's beautiful

Currently in Wolverhampton, have lived in several major UK cities, the lovely Lincolshire countryside and a very small town called Mablethorpe - hopefully moving to New Plymouth.

I'm originally from inner London, and then moved around a bit to a few places just outside of London.
Moved to Auckland two years ago and lived on the North Shore before moving to our current home in Waimauku.

teh only problem with Taihape is like it's tag line says "it's half way there", 'cos that also means you are half way FROM anywhere

"the only problem!!!!" bloody hell it's got more wrong with it than that. Actually I love the place but that's because I find the terrain fun (I'm into kayaking, rafting moutain biking and skiing). Love the brown sugar cafe but hate the Taihape bush telephone. Someone overhears you saying something and within 24hrs it's got around the town.

I'll second that, it's a great little cafe! Both my children are currently living in Wellington & I've lost count of how many times I've driven there in the past couple of years. Taihape is probably roughly half way on the drive from Rotorua to Wellington, & the brown sugar cafe is well worth a stop.

We're from the very north of Scotland and moving to Hawera, Taranaki on Saturday! We're going there as that's where my OH was offered a job. Think it's very rural but less than an hour to New Plymouth (and compared to where we're from it'll be positively cosmoplolitan!)

From Bournemouth to Sheffield to London, now happily residing in Merivale, Christchurch
Well actually our postal address informs us we live in St.Albans but considering McDonalds and St Georges hospital is a stones throw away and is classed in Merivale, I class us as living in Merivale. Plus the signpost for Merivale is on our road.
Even though I hope to move close to the beach when the little one is at walking age, this area is fantastic.
