Where can you search for sold property prices?
Is there a NZ website where you can check how much property sold for recently?

There's an app called Trade Me Property that has all the sold prices on, just for Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington so far.
Not the general Trade Me app, a specific Property one.

Just with all these auctions/deadline treaties it's difficult to gauge what houses actually sold for?
Many thanks for your input.

Oh can the app not be downloaded from outside NZ?
The only other way I know is on the Trade Me website. Often, on a listing of a house for sale it will list about 3 other recent sales in the area - to give you an idea of prices.
E.g. On this listing (chosen at random), under the map, it says "Recent QV sales information" and under that it lists 3 houses and what they sold for. Hope link works

Qv.co.nz is the website that had sold prices on but you have to pay for them

Doesn't look like it I know you can't register on trademe if you're outside NZ & Aus (I think) & the app just doesn't show up on my phone
Ah, yes - I can see that now - many thanks.

Good info for prospective property buyers. Looking at various suburbs in Christchurch, prices seem to hv peaked and plateaued. Buying now may be buying at the top of the cycle.

After replying to this post yesterday an ad for a site called homes.co.nz popped up today on my screen, no doubt because I'd been looking at property websites.
http://https://homes.co.nz
It claims to give an estimate of the value of any property, based on local sales data etc. No idea how accurate it is, I think it's quite a new site.

The value of our house in Whanganui wasn't even loaded/listed on that site ! Or any of the neighbouring properties either. I could buy an online valuation but there's not much point.
I've always had a kind of 'wait and see' viewpoint regarding property values. Basically, it's not on the market, so we don't need to know the value. If we do put the house on the market, the valuation will be the valuation on the day. There's not a great deal can be done about the regional property market where we live.

You might be benefitting from the Wellington property boom. Well done. (Does that somehow buy out the loss you made on selling your previous house in the bay ?)

I would take those values with a large pinch of salt unless it shows a recent sales prices and they start to get more data and build a more realistic picture.
We all know that houses in the same road here can vary from one end of the spectrum being a shabby old shack to a million dollar mansion at the other; in our road there's not even two houses alike, yet they all are shown to have the exact same value on that site.
