Where can I see the Aurora from the top of the South Island
Hey everyone!
Unfortunately our view of the Southern horizon is well and truly blocked here in Marlborough (Blenheim/Renwick area). Looking at the map Camp Campbell might be the closest place with a unobstructed view south. Difficult to get to since the quake.
Any suggestions?
This was the view over Queenstown last night!

There was.
A couple of weeks around the equinox there was a huge flare.
You need very dark skies. Someone over Takaka way caught the last one on camera so I'd think maybe up Takaka Hill might do it a bit looking back over the ranges BUT there is a lot of lighting on the Richmond side. I did actually consider driving up to wait it out over those nights but binned the idea as a bit impratical all round.
I'll have more think. I really want to see it too.
