Our container is due to arrive end of August and I just wondered how long I should expect to wait before we take delivery of the contents. It is coming into Auckland and will contain lots of camping equipment, horse tack and equipment etc so I assume it will be inspected.

PSS shipped it so not sure what the process is when the ship arrives.

Recently in wellington we got ours 4 days after it arrived however some in Auckland had to wait nearly a month

We had camping stuff and horse riding wear, not tack, and we didn't get inspected.
We also used PSS and a week before it arrived NZ Van lines rung to say that customs and MAF had looked at our documentation and cleared it for delivery. We had to pay $48 then they delivered as above

Our stuff arrived on 7th August at Auckland and after filling out the paperwork with PSS had to go to NZ van lines and refill out similar forms again for some reason. We were told it would take a week. It's been a week and a half and no news yet. Hopefully it won't get inspected but at the same time we will need storage and we don't pay until it gets inspected so the longer it's in limbo the better!

Our stuff arrived in Auckland on 24th July. We had our stuff delivered on 9th August.

What ship is it on? Being nosy cos our container is on Msc Vandya which was due to be in Auckland 22nd August, but on the tracking page the ship is still in China, never going to make it surely

We tracked our ship, MSC Noa using an online monitoring website. It wasn't as time critical for us as we'd sent our container on 2 months ahead of us.

It was in port when we rolled into Christchurch. We actually had to get our skates on as our 10 days free storage at destination port was about to expire. In fact, it expired on the Sunday and we were moving into our rental a few days later. We just paid what we then owed. I can't remember how much but it wasn't a great deal.

Ha Ha it sounds as though you are making the same mistake as I did. The ship that took our container out of the UK was a very large "City" carrier, too big to dock at only a few ports around the World. It offloaded our container in Singapore and then sailed on merrily up into the China seas. In the meantime a smaller carrier was coming down to Chch via Oz...
I was still tracking the original vessel...

It was off loaded once already round about Antwerp! I followed the first ship for weeks!
Would be nice to get a surprise!

We tracked our container number not the ship, that way we knew exactly where it was. Your shipper should be able to tell you the number, it's printed on the front of the container

I have tried to track our container which should have sailed on the 10th August but it states that it is still in Felixstowe, getting a bit concerned now!

Try this site http://www.searates.com/container/tracking/
It will show exactly where it is on a interactive map. Just put in your container number, don't fill in the other box
