Hello,
We are looking at moving to New Plymouth with our 10 month old child who has a severe wheat allergy.
Can anyone please tell me if there is a wide range of wheat/gluten free products available specially breads, biscuits etc.
TIA
Nikki

New World and Countdown do gluten free and just checked Countdowns website and it has wheat free, not sure how big the range is and can imaging it will be costly but check out the websites and it will give you an idea

Hi Nikki, I'm wheat free & don't find it a problem. I use New world, but brands & choice will vary from store to store. New World is quite good, if you ask them to get a product or brand, they will try & oblige

I am gluten intolerant, not allergic thank God. I have found it easier in NZ than I did in the UK. Every cafe I have been in here (in Auckland at least) has had gluten free bread, and also a gluten free option for things like cakes or muffins. Cafe's here tend to make their own food, such as eggs benedict, salads or sandwiches, rather than the prepacked stuff they serve in Starbucks. And they always have gluten free bread. They just charge additionally. Also - my gluten free bread is nearly $8.00 a loaf at the supermarket! So while easy, it isn't cheap.
