What's wrong with Rolleston???????
Hi everyone
What's wrong with Rollerston near CHCH??????
Is it me or are there loads of houses to buy or rent in Rolleston, its there something wrong with that area??
Does anyone live in or around that area please?
Looking at newish rentals around the outskirts of CHCH with BIG gardens, no subdivision and searchres always show up around Rolleston.
Anyone got any clue to the area please?

Apart from the Big Prison there, there is not much else there, another outback Banjo playing , tumble weed blowing through the streets NZ town !!
Have been through there a couple of times and it looke pretty dead, the new rentals are proably left over from the boom building time and for Prison staff, if you got kids i would try to get towards CHCH as much as possible.
Soory dont live in CHCH but have been through Rollerston a few time, have lived in Dunedin for over 3 years now.

It is a new town being built outside of christchurch and that is why like so many developments out of towns are having investers building and then cannot afford to pay mortgages so that is why there is an influx of houses to rent/buy. Rolleston itself looks quite nice. My daughter's neighbour moved out there recently and have a big section with a big garden and love it. It is a matter of choice. I don't think it is full of Prison Staff. My son in law works for the prison and he doesn't live there!
There are lots of businesses starting to pop up out there, but i am sure if anyone on here actually lives there they will be able to tell you more or I could ask my daughter's ex- next door neighbour if you want me. PM me if you do.

My inlaws live in Rolleston and have settled really well there, with a mixture of both pommie and kiwi friends.
I think it is comparitively cheap there because, it is out of the City. My FIL regularly gets comments from colleagues about them living 'all the way out there'!!!! The reality of it is a 25 minute commute to town.
There isn't too much there at the moment, however I know there is quite a lot in the pipeline for the town in the next 2 -3 years, so may be worth looking at as a long term investment
