Its spring! Still unstable weather patterns around got some snow to 600m down in the South Island and pretty sweet with the nice heavy warm rains last night.
Who cares about the weather just enjoy what comes.

Pretty hot here in Nelson, having to put lots of suncream on as midday is fairly fierce. Still classed as spring but def outside weather although we have not dared the sea yet.

 Watched the weather forecast last night. Snow in places in South Island overnight but should be sunny or sun/cloud for rest of week in most of NZ, with a UV index of up to 8 in SI, up to 11 in NI - slip, slap, slop and wrap this week folks!
Basically, NZ has weather! If you are looking for wall to wall sunshine then it's probably not the place to come!! Bottom of SI has cold winters (snow etc), we had frosts this winter (we're just outside Wellington) and, yes, it's been windy (!) but not too bad - the further north you go the 'milder' it becomes. Having said that, the north of NI was affected by flooding this year and 'twisters' that caused some structural damage!
I thought last summer here was great, about 9-10 weeks of blue skies, 22-25 degrees every day and light breezes - but the local kiwis said it had been a bad summer?
It's not the weather you need to worry about, it's the sand flies, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, single glazing and NZ marmite (yuck!) ;)

Get yourself some Bovril and try that in a sandwich or on your buttered toast in the morning....

We get through loads of it as the kids love it to but can only find it in very small bottles here, not the big ones you can get in the UK. Apparently some weird people drink it to...:rofl:

Maybe the last time you'll be tempted by the Marmite....?

Officially summer starts on December 1st.
Astronomically it starts on the 22nd December when the sun is directly over the Tropic of Capricorn.

Feb-March are usually the best months.......when the kids go back to school ;)

 Don't. Too flamin' cold at the moment. The sea I meant

The unsettled weather patterns of Spring seem to be here. I had my first sand fly nip yesterday & some of the fruit flies have woken up. Ugh.
It's warming up nicely though. I quite like this time of year with the differing weather. When we do get right into summer, it'll be hot blue day after hot blue day.

It started off really cold and miserable this morning. But now it is warm, the sky is blue and the sun is shining. And today is a day off work so it's even better!:cool:

Can't remember what day is what last week but recorded 38.9 degrees in back garden in the sun and 33 deg in the shade. Locals were saying it hit 40 deg in Oxford? Over the weekend here it was around 32 - 35 deg at home and the temperature monitor on the townstreet was showing 25deg at 5.30pm. Today however is grey, coldish and looks thundery which is great as the garden could do with a good watering!
