Spaghetti Bolognese tonight. I've already made the Bolognese sauce so the flavours develop.

I'm impressed. No-one in our neck of the woods, including me, has successfully grown parsnips.

Avert your eyes.

Mr BEVS requested liver, bacon and onion casserole.

Now, I am not at all keen but he is fit enough and works enough to chose his own food at times.

Making the most and cramming in the late summer veggies before they go out of fashion and we can't afford them, I did a huge pan full of ratatouille style veggies with aubergine, courgette, red and yellow pepper, onion, bacon, tomatoes and mushrooms. Stirred through some pasta spirals, smothered in cheese and whacked into the oven for a wee while. Plenty left for lunch tomorrow.

Then a cheeky hot-coss bun somehow fell into my gob.

I like liver and onions but we have the opposite problem in that he doesn't like it

Tonight is moussaka night, never made it before and I have a sneaking suspicion that he doesn't like aubergine but he'll just have to deal with it

Liver and bacon not for me, thanks. I ate it if my mum made it. I don't make it at home. My husband does not eat offal, so that's easy.

Tonight I'm cooking lamb chops to be served with potatoes, veg, gravy and mint sauce.

Neither of us like aubergine but we manage it if I make moussaka.

Same Snapshot. Bottom line last evening? Mr BEVS rated the effort better than his Mum's ( of course it was. I cook. She cremates) . I picked away at the veg and bacon but couldn't eat it in the end.

Crumbed chicken and oven chips tonight. Next Friday, Good Friday, will be Snapper with cheese & leek mash potatoes and assorted vegetables.

We will probably break out the hot cross buns too !
