She posted in here the other day.....one of the posts was Newcomer Seeks Advice... I remember seeing a few threads she'd replied to and wondered if she was alright. She was very kind to me when I first got here... I hope she is OK.

Sunshine and rain is a colleague of mine and is certainly alive and kicking in beautiful Rotorua.
I will pass on your concerns.

We used to go down to Rotorua each year while my dad ran the marathon. Had a very painful (guys will know what I mean) coming down the tobbagan thing up the top of the hill. Breaked to suddenly and well it was painful.
But great place for you guys to be based - lots going on in Rotorua and not so far to either the ski fields or the beaches (the mount/papamoa).
If you take up Tai Kwon Do you may run into my sister.

I am here - alive and kicking. LOL. I am flattered you remembered me. It HAS been a while I know - but life is just so busy. I am back at work and study and so between that and my gorgeous family I am pretty swamped - that and busy socialising!! Just been away to Canberra for the weekend and got back last night. You are right Oh is a doctor, and we do live in Rotorua - Gill dropped a note on my desk asking me to call in and say Hi - HI!! Glad you are happy Sarah B - its so nice to hear you are settled and happy. All is well in Sunshine's world too - my parents are applying for residence next month so fingers crossed as that will really help me feel more settled than I do. I'll call back in soon - and thanks again guys

Hi everyone. So good to see some old names on the forum. I've been checking in every now and then but haven't contributed much. Segamad and I often think of you all and reminisce of good times (and the occasional barney) on this forum and wonder who made it over there and how everyone's doing. congratulations Sarah B on the pregnancy. Boy you'll have your hands full with 2 young 'uns I don't envy you. My miscreant daughter is back in the fold and doing her A Levels at the moment so we're delighted about that. Unfortunately though our dream of going to NZ has been completely scuppered as Ali (Sega) has contracted cancer of the stomach and liver and I have now gone from being a librarian to a full time carer (yes guys it's that bad). His prognosis isn't good so I don't know what the future holds. sorry to hijack the thread with our bad news, most of you probably don't know who the hell I am but most of the respondents to this thread do. Just thought I'd keep you up to date cause we'll probably leave this forum now as we are no longer potential expats...
One thing I will say though... Thank God for the NHS.
Regards
Phyllis

Oh gosh Phyllis, so sorry to hear of your bad news. You just never know what lifes gonna throw at you do you?! I hope Ali gets through it all OK. Its nice to hear from you anyway.... yes, some of us are still here and check in most days. I remember the barneys on here last year too!! lol.... not so bad now to be honest.
Thanks for the congrats.... I'm getting old so last baby for me. Some days I think I am mad (like yesterday).... DS was such a pain in the backside I really thought I was gonna go mad.... sometimes he drives me nuts.
Well, give our best wishes to Ali.... we'll be thinking of you. Hopefully see you around here again soon.

I am so so sorry to hear your bad news. my heartfelt sadness and love goes out you and your family. I hope Ali is not too uncomfortable. You are right about the NHS too, palliative care here is pretty awful. I hope the carer is looking after herself too?? I have only just started popping back in myself. I remember the arguments and 'tense' threads too - some quite fondly actually! LOL. You will ALWAYS be potential expats - don't you forget that - so keep coming in and saying Hi.
Love to you both
