What would make you leave NZ for good?

What would make you leave NZ for good?
I thought this might give an insight into what is important to us here who live in NZ.
I would leave if NZ became as crowded as the UK. I would leave NZ if the quality of life that we have here was ever eroded significantly. I felt in the UK I was just 'going through the motions' of life. Here in NZ most things are waaaay better than they were in Northampton. Except the driving. That is soooooooooooooooooooooooo crap.

No where near as good imo as the UK.

The inabaility to gain some semblance of a life outsude of work, something that seems near impossible to do after over eighteen months.

Unfortunately the education is what is keeping me here. I daren't risk trying to put my kids back into the UK education system - they'd be so far behind their peers
But to answer to the question - sustained, increased risk of a natural disaster (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic erruption .....) I value my kids lives over their education I guess

For me and mine nothing would make us leave here.
as for the above they would be way in advance of their UK peers unless you base education to equal best phone, best shoes ,best car, best BFF, best gang membership, best oversized class .......

I love it here and would only leave if it became like the UK......overcrowded, full of CHAV's (or if Gordon ruled this place as well!)

Re: What would make you leave NZ for good?
After ten years working away from the wife as a contractor, the fact that I see the wife every day, have no mortgage or rent, and a life of fishing on my boat, a season pass for skiing and new friends via the motorbike means there's no way UK can compare to my quality of life here.
Just got a new job well outside of my norm, but head hunted, all mean stuff it, I'm here til my ashes are spread on top of Ruapehu (in case it goes bang....what a way to get spread eh?)
So, to answer the original question....nothing. Doesn't mean I don't wish I still had the friends I had back there, but some sacrifices are worth it.

Nothing.
We have some wonderful friends & I have just as good friendships with them as my UK friends. I miss some friends from the UK & they still mean alot to me but I have been lucky enough to form some very close friendships here. I suppose I'm willing to give of myself & have certainly been taken for a ride by a couple of people, which has been painful BUT it also means that I know the friends that are true & trustworthy.
We don't have children but I wouldn't worry about the education too much. My OH did his senior school education over here in the late '70's & yes he was a little behind his peers when his family returned to the UK. He still managed to get good 'A' level grades & has done well for himself ever since. TBH IMHO the kids I speak to in NZ are far more articulate than their UK peers. That speaks volumes to me.
