what works and what does'nt.
Those blue stickers are now in our passports. Shipping companies are getting contacted and the snowball seems to be getting bigger very quickly as we near our target date of mid November. Can any one tell me without a shadow of a doubt......... Do LCD Flatscreen T.V.'s work in N.Z. Got a big'n and a little,n and i dont really want to get rid. Also, Does the X.Box 360 operate ok when bought in the U.K. Also D.V.D. players and discs , what's the score with them. Also C.D.'s. Do they play in Kiwi car players. If anyone knows anything on this whole subject can they let me know. Cheers:confused:

DVDs maybe - depends on region, but if you take a European player then you will be ok for European disks CDs - no problem |
Re: what works and what does'nt.
We brought our flat screen LCD tv and it works fine, having said that, NZ tv is absolutely awful so we also have sky. ;)
DVD player works fine too, as does our UK bought X Box 360.. |
Re: what works and what does'nt.
CDs play in the car, no worries. LCD telly works, everything works really.....
But your new NZ-purchased DVD will not work in your UK XBox - we discovered after settling down for a cosy Saturday night in watching a new DVD purchase  Jan |

We've done this for our main player and it's not had any side effects. So we can watch the DVDs the children get sent by their aunt in NZ. Couldn't find a code for the portable in-car DVD player though:frown: John. |
Re: what works and what does'nt.
Take a look :
http://countrycode.org/tv-standards New Zealand has PAL B/G that is very common and compatible with modern TVs. |
Re: what works and what does'nt.
Congrats.

Re: what works and what does'nt.
Flatscreen i.e. modern t.v.'s such as yours will work ok. Old t.v.'s would get picture not sound. Our flatscreen works, our old portable t.v.'s don't. Remember to bring an internal ariel in case there's no external ariel arrangements in your nz house. If you have a printer, bring a couple of spare ink cartridges with you. Our Hewlett Packard printer is not zoned for NZ even though we purchased Hewlett Packard ink cartridges from a local store in NZ. Go figure !
They will switch off the analogue t.v. signal in NZ in September 2013. |

http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=586997 are old TV threads the analogue TV in NZ will only get you a handful of channels a UK freeview receiver is no good best to come over and get a freeview receiver, either via the aerial (if you have the correct aerial and good signal) or via satellite (many homes/rentals already have the dish aimed at the sky satellite which carries free to air channels). many of the UK DVD players are multiregion (UK=region 2, NZ=region 4). if not then you can check out remote hacks (to make the player multi-region with the remote control), etc at dvdhelp/dot/com personally I'd bring it all, as Trademe is a good place to unload or buy stuff  |
