Less than a week before my wife (plus new trainers) arrives in Auckland. I'm trying to think of stuff for her to bring out.

Any suggestions?

Well if you can't think of anything probably nothing...for me it would be:

Marks and Spencer cakes!
Marks and Spencer clothes!
Marks and Spencer carpet slippers!

The rest of what I miss isn't transportable.

A suitcase full of cheap 50 quid mobile phones, you can sell on trade me at
$300 each

How about some clothes that hint at a sense of fashion.

a box of Mr Kipling cakes

some 10 quid ben sherman Tshirts, better than paying $75 a pop in auckland

I was always taught the best things come in small packages = and what makes you think that your ancestors had the correct 'spelling'?
Anyway = I apologize, Roger, for making light of your serious question regards 'what your wife should bring you'.
I read your name and Tom Cruise [ yes I know he spells his name differently] sprang to mind. Silly me!

I really don't care about stature but the smile, the teeth, the eyes!
Yes, so sad!

Having done a little research into my own family tree - As far back as 1703 and the small village of Ogborne St George in Wiltshire - I know that spelling wasn't a priority in my family... Reading probably wasn't too high either!

19 variations of my maiden name in the family tree[and still counting]!
Mind you they didn't have the advantage of spell checker!

Woodpigeon is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: What should my wife bring out to me?

Her full alcohol allowance worth of traditional ale

Largest jar of Marmite she can find/carry.
As many boxes of PG Tips tea bags as she can carry (yes I know you can get PG Tips here, but it really doesn't taste the same honest).

M&S towels and toiletries. Clarks shoes.........

Actually, give me a few hours and I'll send you my shopping list - it's been ages since we've had a visitor from the UK and my shelves/cupboards could definitely do with stocking up

I love that, made me laugh heaps, thanks!

This is a picture from a clothes magazine that came through my door in the first few months of living here- caused much hilarity

I sorted it- it's making me laugh all over again

There's people out there thinking "yis, I'll look smart in that when I'm rolling around oil drums"
