What to pack...???
Right!
Now that it's moving, I anticipate it to move rather fast!
You see my trouble is as follow... I left my flat and packed up back in January to go to Sydney... So all my clothes are light/summery type! Now I am on my way to Auckland soon.... Should I run to the shops n buy some layers?
Please let me know!

Four Seasons in one day weather here at the moment
We've had sleet and snow in some parts for the last few days, oh and don't forget the gale force winds too and now we have some sunshine on the way again
So yes lots of layers and a waterproof too

Re: What to pack...???
I had my ski jacket on on Saturday while the snow came down on a Christchurch beach!! Then today I have the doors open, it's colder in the houses than outside, but today I am wearing only a t-shirt, jumper and jeans and it's very pleasant.
Layer up!

Re: What to pack...???
I read a news report about the recent cold winds and bit of snow, and it recommended 6 layers of clothing or don't go out in case of hyperthermia.
I had to laugh. I'd been outside with three layers. A t-shirt, a jumper and my thin rain coat. I was perfectly warm. I've never had 6 layers on when outside even when skiing!
To me, in Wellington, it was a nice winter's day with a few cold showers to add interest. (Kiwis don't know about winter)
But on the other hand, if you stay inside you will need those 6 layers. I don't want to labour the point again, but these kiwi house are freezing.

Yeah, but she'll have some wonderful furniture to warm her heart in those cold, cold evenings.

Re: What to pack...???
We're taking a 3 week holiday, travelling around the North Island (activating our visas while we're there) in July/August (really made up to be taking a winter holiday!!!!!!!!!). We're going to try and see as much as we can in that time but not sure what to pack. Do we take big winter coats, heavy sweaters, thick socks, etc.?Got to try and travel light but it's difficult - don't want to take stuff 'just in case'. Would appreciate some advice!
Thanks
Gail

Gail, bring lots of layers! A rainproof jacket is a must. I wouldn't bother with winter coats. Thermal underwear, fleeces, hat, scarf & gloves etc., will do the job. Have a wonderful holiday.
