budvar
bags of fresh raspberry jam donuts from Sainsburys
proper crusty french stick
fresh Sainsburys homous
real granary bread
vegetarian samosas
bourbon biscuits (at 58p or whatever)
provamel soya deserts
I miss being able to buy decent food cheaply. Cheap here means shite.

Proper chips made from freshly peeled potatoes and served with vinegar!
Fruit corner yoghurts
houmous/humous (hummus doesn't taste quite right)
Milk (always tastes & smells slightly off to me, same in Oz)
Fig rolls

Continental meats and cheeses.
The ability to buy more quality products for a reasonable amount extra.
Not being exorbitantly charged for things out of season - lol, how do you make a ratatouille in NZ when one week aubergines are expensive but courgettes cheap, then red peppers are cheap but not yellow ones, then the following week it's all expensive except aubergines.
Overall I just miss the choice available in supermarkets and the quality for a reasonable price.
As an aside I never thought lamb would be so expensive over here or of relatively poor quality.

It's the way they look horrified when you mention vinegar on chips but are happy to munch away on salt and vinegar crisps.

me too. I've got the same problem - can't smell fresh nz/oz Milk.
I only drink UHT milk here (it's not good for u, either) - that's just for crap coffee in the morning anyway..

I think I'm over most things, but occasionally the voices in my head still tell me otherwise.
Jam doughnuts is a biggie, why oh why can't we get jam doughnuts?
Also Pizza Express, where are they? Surely someone is missing a nice business opportunity. Hells Pizza is good enough but doesn't quite reach the spot - they only do takeaways and I'd really like a sit down fresh out of the oven restaurant pizza, some doughballs and garlic butter, some salad and a well chilled bottle of Peroni.
That made me because it is so true! I've been bulk buying red peppers over the past few weeks when they were really cheap, roasting them and putting them in the freezer for the winter months. I was gutted this week, I needed a fresh pepper (capsicum if you must) for a spanish omlette and they were back up to $1.49 for a tiny wizzened little thing. :curse: No more fajitas till next summer.

There's a Pizza Hut opening up near us but won't be going anywhere near it. I used to love Pizza Express and mispent many a happy lunchtime in there with workmates and bottles of red wine .
