Hey peeps.

Just getting organised and I was wandering what food items you can take to NZ. I am primarily concerned with our spices etc? Anyone have any knowledge?

yeah I know what you mean! It's taken me ages to build up our supply of herbs and spices ....

I must look like a Corned Beef person as he clarified that 'my' corned beef would go off in the container! I never touch the stuff anymore

dont forget tho that spices and dried herbs do go off very quickly. its all grand having a stocked cupboard (mine is filled to the brim) but they lose their effectiveness remarkably quickly - about 4 months from opening.

so bear that in mind and it wont be so bad leaving them behind!!

Would suggest you only bring in unopened pkts. Spices should be fine, but plants not. If in doubt contact NZ customs via their website. I think it's

If you store them in airtight containers in a cool dark space, they will last longer.

You can buy corned beef in NZ. No big deal. Buy new spices and don't open them
