Could anyone please tell me the name of this flower? I think it's a lily but I need to check to see if it's dangerous to cats and dogs. Thanks.

Looks like a canna lily to me but it's hard to tell without seeing the leaves too.

Canna lily it is. I have a red and yellow one. Never seen any local cats taking an interest in mine. Can't help on the doggy front. Sorry.

Yes it's a canna, I had them I the UK too and they've never been a problem with my cats but the flower are usually at least a metre off the ground, so not likely much is going to be bothered by them.

Thanks Vital and Bo. We've already had a giant hogweed to get rid of, we had to suit up like spacemen in order to deal with it, so it's good that this isn't toxic to the pets.
