Talking What do you do to...

Relax.

You know, really relax and forget about all your stresses and worries?

I'm finding it hard and without resorting to taking drugs from work or drinking myself instead a stupor every night I'm not sure what to do. And no, that's not a serious suggestion!

I'm really not into massages so that's out. Maybe I just have to give it time and it'll sort itself out when I'm not trying to organise so much at once
Trying to sort out a wedding, honeymoon and a move in 2 months is not fun

So what do you do? Any ideas welcome!

Erm, a glass of bubbles for a start .
I love massages & I'm currently having one per week. I get very tense in my neck & shoulders & my middle back goes into spasm after a while, so I consider them a necessity for me. My first one cost $60 for an hour but they are now $40 for an hour.

A walk by the sea helps too.

Congratulations on your engagement, wedding & move

my defaults are normally exercise based or just walking the dog with my walkman (remember those!) on.

But mostly i dont worry about things i cant influence, and change the things I cant before they become a worry. Honestly it is that easy.

You'll have a great wedding whether you worry about it or not and it is just one day after all..

I walk the dog and look at the night sky.

Delegate a bit of the organising and enjoy what's coming up

Thanks everyone, normally I don't get too hyped up about things and let things work themselves out without too much stress. It doesn't help that He's away for the whole time and will return 5 days before the day. Will just keep working through that list...

Can't do massages VBS, don't like the idea of strange hands touching me-yeah I'm a bit funny like that

Want to hire out your dog GODB?

How marvellous. I'm one of life's worriers. I worry if I've got nothing to worry about because surely, there is something I should be worrying about

My therapist is a friend, so that helps but frankly I don't care who they are if they've got healing hands. I understand your feelings though.

Have you got someone you can chat to about all your worries, a problem shared etc.,etc.

Great idea, love ducks!! We're raising an orphaned duckling at work. Maybe this weekend as I'm working 8.30am-7pm from this afternoon till Sunday. That doesn't help the stress levels but I do need to pay for it all somehow

The other thing to is put some music on and dance. Latin-American is a great stress-buster. If i'm feeling somewhat angry-stressed then putting my tap shoes on & giving the garage floor a pounding helps.

Jog, listen to music, wine and watch a movie, a walk around Virginia lake to feed the swans and ducks , a walk by the sea and catch up for coffee with certain friends

Some good suggestions there, thanks everyone. Think I'll try and keep Sunday as a 'try not to think about what needs doing day' and have a day just for me-feed ducks, visit the Gardens, have a glass of wine, meet with some friends, have lunch out and take it easy And if I have enough wine I might considering dancing too

Ducks Who mentioned ducks. Photo of said duck please.

Mr BEVS is what seems to be called in these modern times 'an active exerciser'. He needs to go walking, jogging or training and like DB does that with a walkman plugged into his lugholes. He says that when he is doing that, his mind isn't working overtime .

I read. Once I'm into a book , I am away . I also like swimming. I'm not that great but it is soothing .

As you have so much on your plate at the moment Perse, it may be all about finding distraction (s) & setting some hours aside for that.

I'm with you on the massage thing though. I've only ever had the odd one to help with injuries but find it intrusive for some reason.
Except for the ones me and Mr BEVS had in Sri Lanka once. We were hysterically laughing the whole time. Once they reached the feet , that was it !

Adopt a dog from the nearest rescue centre. Walking a dog is so beneficial to my own health (pysical and mental) and you meet people, see areas you didnt know existed and dogs make you smile alot (releasing some sort of magic feel good thingys)

I swim. I'm not a good or strong swimmer but lots of laps just helps clear my head.
