What is a Dependent?

Having been offered a position with the RNZN, my wife and I are considering the very real possibility of moving to Auckland next year. Our 19 year old daughter suffers from Dyspraxia and Dyslexia, has been offered a University place to study Nursing in London.

She is considering coming with us and undertaking her university education in NZ; however, as she will be 20 by the time we fly I am unsure if she counts as a dependent for visa and university. The University said that they have 250 places for her degree but only 7 for International Students.

I would be grateful for any advice.

Re: What is a Dependent?

if your visa class allows.

What is required?

" Applicants aged 20 or younger are eligible for residence as dependent children whether financially dependent or not. "
