There's loads of good pubs at both ends of the City near Courtney Place and towards the station, outside of the city where i am everythings a little more centralised with the Sandbar in Mana along with Monteiths, but at least with the Sandbar they run a courtesy bus to get you home...

"Pub" is a bit of a misnomer though. Many of the drinking places are better described as "sports bars", though Wellington has a few Irish bars and even a Welsh one.

not yet, been looking at Whitby but will rent holiday accomodation for first 2 weeks and find something when in country as rental has to take two mutts.

If anyone's at a loose end this weekend there's the Wellington House and Home Exhibition at the TSB Arena http://www.homex.co.nz/ might be worth a look see. Probably not a patch on the old Ideal Homes shows we use to go to in Earls Court...
